Leatherman Skeletool - 5 Ounces Of Fury
In this day and age outdoor enthusiasts need to keep weight and volume as low as possible and not sacrifice quality and true functionality. While multi-tools have many options, they're often heavier with a higher number of features than are used on a day to day basis. Conversely, small knives are lightweight and streamlined, but render themselves useless when necessary adjustments call for a tool. Enter the all new, five-ounce Skeletool platform: Minimal weight, compact size and limitless capabilities.
Whether you're into hiking out in the forest, rock climbing, quad biking, skiing, fishing, or beginning a DIY project at home; there will always be things you can't do without. "Everybody could agree that a superior knife, strong pliers and a good screwdriver were the ideal mix," said Sr. Design Engineer John Nenadic. "The challenge was going back to the very first design of the PST and altering the appearance of small functionality for today's customers."
Skeletool's outside-accessible blade means, just like a pocket knife, it can be opened quickly with one hand. Bit driver technology makes it workable to customize the screwdriver for every task. Use a single bit that comes with the product, and can be kept in the handles, or integrate the Leatherman bit kit (sold separately) and there are as many as 42 Hex, Robertson, Pozi, Torx, Phillips and Slotted bit extensions. Full-size pliers with wire cutters and folding handles-as only Leatherman is able to manufacture them-are tough, comfortable and simple to use.
Two models of the tool, Leatherman Skeletool and Leatherman Skeletool CX began shipping worldwide two years ago. The Skeletool model is stainless steel with a 420HC blade and retails for £69.95. Skeletool CX is also stainless steel but features DLC Tungsten coating for scratch resistance plus a 154CM straight blade that is very easy to sharpen. MSRP for the CX model is £89.95. The two versions are supplied with the impressive Leatherman 25 year warranty.
